Such a Pretty Girl

I read an ARC of this book.

Meredith's father was in prison for sexually abusing children, including herself. He is let out early. Meredith has to face her father earlier than she was expecting.

I liked the writing style of the book. Good book. I got so upset at Meredith's mother the entire book. It was hard to take her standing up for Meredith's father all the time. I was expecting what happened with Andy to happen in the end, or sooner, but what happened to her father was a surprise.

Castle in the Air

Abdullah, a carpet salesman, is sold a magic carpet. As he sleeps, the carpet takes him to a garden where he meets Flower-in-the-Night and he falls in love with her. Shortly thereafter, a djinn steals her away and he begins a voyage to find her.

I loved Howl's Moving Castle so I was looking forward to this book, although I had read the characters roles are limited in this "sequel"

I really wouldn't call this book a sequel to Howl's Moving Castle. The same characters show up but not in a way I expect in a sequel. I would have loved to seen more of Howl but the way he was presented in this book wasn't the same.

Overall, though, I enjoyed the story as a seperate story from Howl. I don't know if it was just me but I saw some similarities between this story and Disney's Aladdin movie.

Naked Once More

Jacqueline Kirby has been chosen to write the sequel to a very popular book, whose author is missing and presumed dead. Jacqueline goes to write the book in the author's hometown where she starts to unravel the mystery of the missing author and is threathened herself.

I really liked this book. I stayed up late last night reading the last 30 pages to find out what happend. I love Jacqueline-she's funny, witty and tells it like it is. I didn't realize that this is the 4th book about her. I will have to get the other 3; I am excited to read more about her. This is my second book by Elizabeth Peters; I've also read one Amelia Peabody mystery that I enjoyed.

Ordinary Jack

This is the first in a series of books about the Bagthorpe family. Each member of the family is very talented in multiple areas ("have many strings to their bows") except for Jack. Uncle Parker hatches a plan to give Jack a new talent.

The Bagthorpe family is hilarious and really too much at times. My favorite character besides Jack is Uncle Parker, just love him! I liked the funny parts of the books but to tell the truth I got bored in some parts too and didn't always like her writing style.

This is the first in a series about the Bagthorpes. I haven't decided whether I am going to read the others in the series yet.

Snappy name

I need a snappy name for my book blog-any suggestions? I am never good at this.

Starting out

I decided to start a book blog about the books I read. I love to read and I have so many books on my to be read shelves. I'm almost afraid to count how many; I think the number is close to 500. I can't stop buying books! I mainly buy my books at library book sales and used book stores. I also love to get books through BookCrossing, PaperBackSwap and Frugal Reader. I read mainly general fiction, historical fiction, and young adult/children's books. I have so many favorite books; a partial list is Anne of Green Gables, The Story Girl, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Joy in the Morning, and Pillars of the Earth. I don't have as much time to read as I'd like to, having two small children, but I try to read as much as I can. I am always reading something.
