The Miserable Mill

The fourth book in the Series of Unfortunate Events series. A quick read, as usual. I have read these pretty randomly off and on. I will get through the whole series eventually. I didn't find this the strongest book in the series but still good. So far, my favorite in the series has been book 3.

Miss New York Has Everything

I am normally not a big memoir fan. However, my cousin's professor in college wrote this book so I thought I'd give it a try.

Jakiela (rhymes with tequila) starts out with her family life growing up in the Pittsburgh area in the 1970s. I could relate a lot to the Pittsburgh parts of the book. At first I didn't like her writing style, as it seemed to jump around too much, but then it grew up me. I loved the parts about her Polish father (reminded me some of my Polish grandfather) and her flight attentdant experiences.

Heaven to Betsy

Betsy is 14 in this book and just starting high school. Tib has moved back to Milwaukee. This book seems much different than the rest. For one, it is much longer. Also, Betsy appears to be much more grown up. She has a large crowd of friends of both boys and girls, who all seem to adore her. Many times they all gather at Betsy's house for Sunday sandwiches or to sing around the piano. It is interesting to think of teenagers singing around the piano for entertainment; I can't see this happening much to do! Betsy's life seems fun but not all is roses but it all works out in the end for Betsy.

I am getting the next book of the series from paperbackswap and can't wait to read it!

Betsy and Tacy Go Downtown

Betsy and friends are now 12 years old. Lots more adventures including going to the theater with their new friend Winona and going to the public library. The girls seemed younger than 12 though in this book.

Betsy and Tacy go Over the Big Hill

Betsy, Tacy and Tib are now 10 years old in this book. More adventure and more trouble for the girls in this book. I realized that these books are pretty predictable and I had already guessed the ending. Still, fun to read.

Betsy, Tacy and Tib

According to my book list, I had read the first Betsy-Tacy book about a year ago. I guess I wasn't that interested to read the rest of the series but I decided to give it a try again.

Best friends Betsy, Tacy and Tib are 8 years old in this book. They get into lots of adventures: the hair incident had me laughing out loud! It was fun to read about their adventures at the turn of the century.

The Bad Twin

I have been wanting to read this book for a while due to the Lost connection and I finally got it through my wish list at Frugal Reader.

The book was a very quick read. A fast paced page turner. It doesn't really answer any Lost questions but it's interesting to see references to the Widmore Corporation and Oceanic Air, for example. I probably wouldn't have read it without the Lost connection but it turned out to be a pretty good book.
