The Year of Yes

This is a non fiction book about one woman who says yes to everyone who asked her on a date for 1 year. I loved the premise but I thought the book would be different. Hmm, that seems to be a theme this month for me. I thought the author would be order during the year of yes; she was 21 and already very jaded. I am amazed at the number of people who ask her out; it is truly astonishing. And she meets all kind of characters. Again, I am amazed at the men she attracts. I liked the dates where she learns a bit about life like with the Conductor or Handyman. Not romantic dates but just learning about people. It is a pretty fun read but not what I expected.

The Four Story Mistake

This is the second book in the Melendy family series. I don't like the cover I have posted (my copy is older) because it makes it seem like a young child's book but it's young adult. I didn't like the first one all that much but I have the whole series so I thought I'd try again. The Melendys move to an unique country house and this book is about the house and their new adventures there. I liked it better than the first and will continue with the series.

Castaways on Long Ago

Castaways on Long Ago by Edward Ormondroyd

This is a young adult book about 3 siblings who are living on a farm for a few weeks. Long Ago is what they named a mysterious deserted island that they are forbidden to visit. You can guess what happens next. A decent book but I didn't like it as well as I thought I would.

The Wild Shore

This book is a post apocalyptic novel set in Orange County, California in the year 2067. It is mainly the story of a 17 year old boy and his adventures over a few months. It wasn't totally what I expected but I love to read post apocalyptic novels. This wasn't one of the better ones though. I read Kim Stanley Robinson's Years of Rice and Salt a few years ago, which was alternative history, another sci fi genre that I like. I liked this one better although not a favorite.

Olympic fever

I love watching the Olympics. I've been watching them every night. Which means, I never read anymore. I probably haven't read for several days. I only read after the kids go go bed; never have time during the day! But I do read during commercials, but it's the newspaper. I'm several days behind and if I ever get caught up I will bring my current book to read at commercials. I miss reading but I also love the Olympics!
