A Midsummer Night's Dork

This cover might be funnier than the last Dork book. Now Jerry is class president and the school puts on a Shakespeare festival. The 2 sequels to Dork in Disguise were ok but I think I would have been ok if I skipped them.

Dooms Day Book

I have heard a lot of positive things about this book so I was excited to read it. Another time travel book that takes place in the future and the 1300s. It was slow to get into and even after a couple hundred pages I didn't see what the big deal was. I really didn't get really interested in it until the latter half of the book. I didn't see how it was going to end but once I figured part of it out I thought that part would be interesting.

Harry's Mad

Harry inherits a very unusual parrot from his uncle. A fun, short read, read this one in a hour or two also.

Time for Andrew

I also love any books dealing with time travel and this is another fun one. 12 year old Drew switches places with his relative by the same name who lives in the early 1900s. This was a quick read and only took me a few hours to read.

Five Children and It

A delightful book written in the early 20th century. Five children find a psammead, a creature who can grant them wishes. The children have many adventures with their wishes. They usually didn't think their wishes through but that's the fun of their wishes.

The Mennyms Alone

The leader of the Mennym clan is convinced that their world will come to an end, that they will "die", on a certain date. The book is rather sad that in that they try to break ties with the human world as their possible deaths arrive.

The Mennyms Under Siege

The leader of the Mennym family believes they are under siege from the human world when several Mennyms have contact with humans and one neighbor in particular seems very nosy. A surprise at the end of the book that I did not see coming.

Princess in Training

Taking a break from the Mennyms, the sixth book in the Princess Diaries series. Mia, again, has more problems than she can handle. Sometimes, I am a little envious of her problems because they seem like not much to me (well, ok sometimes they are big problems) compared to some of the stuff I went through in high school.

Mennyms in the Wilderness

The Mennyms family home for 40 years is threatened by a new highway. The Mennyms for the first time need help from the human world. This book is my least favorite in the series. It just wasn't as interesting although we do meet interesting new characters.

The Mennyms

I love any books about dolls so I was happy when I found The Mennyms series. It did not disappoint me. The Mennyms are human sized rag dolls who came alive after their maker died. They have been living in society for 40 years. It was interesting to read about how the interacted with the human world and their hopes and fears. Some of the characters frustrated me at times but overall a very good book. It is (I think) a young adult series but I think it reads older too.
